Introduction

Hi everyone,

I am Alice and this is my blog: Gummy Bears and Gymnastics. I love art, dance, gymnastics.
I love the passion, the excitement and the artistry that permeate each of these. I tend to eat gummy bears when I am nervous and the best gymnastics is always a nail-bitter. That is why I thought Gummy Bears and Gymnastics suited me.
This blog is about my opinion on this, and I will write it more like a journal than anything else. Feel free to leave comments and interact!
I have been thinking about writing a blog for some time now, but yesterday after watching the AA of the world championships I decided to go ahead and do it. Full disclosure: I am a fan of ARTISTIC gymnastics and I am not going to stand here and pretend I am not bias. However, I admire good gymnastics above all. I don't believe that the sport shapes the gymnast to its image, but the other way around, yes the code helps, but ultimately is about the gymnasts and their styles not the codes bias.
After watching the AA last night I was first angry at the judges, then happy for Weiber (the girl worked it!) and now I am just melancholic for the good old days.
The problem for me is that I love beautiful gymnastics and sticks. I would like the world champion to be flawless and I more and more realize that has become impossible (and yes, like many I blame FIG and the code of points!).
So for my first entry I want to remember what I love about the sport and believe me it has nothing to do with Amanars.
I have watched gymnastics since I was a baby and collected videos of competitions since I can remember and what comes to my mind when I think about gymnastics is the stories: Nadia's perfect 10 (don't we all), Silivas tenacity, Boginskaya's style, Raducan on the shoulders of Bellu, Arkaev hugging Produnova after beam finals, the Russian's indignation at their silver medals, Miller's sticking her vault and watching as the gold went to Gutsu... all these moments, and so many more, are what gymnastics is to me. And of course the routines:

More soon.
