On Brazilian gymnastics...

Check out this text published in TCG and written by Thiago Simoes on the reality of gymnasts in countries without active support for the sport.

Although I am not sure about his evaluation of Dos Santos routines, the fact that the country does not support its gymnasts is outrageous and publicizing it may be a good way to make people more conscious of what is going on outside the powerhouse countries of the gymnastic world. Also, as I have talked about in other places in this blog, I thought the scoring in Tokyo was very inconsistent. My opinion is not that there was bias, but that the judges are not applying the code correctly, and sometimes the mistakes add up in an individuals, or team's overall score. I hope to write a longer article about the code later on, for now I leave you guys with this article and some ideas. Please share your comments or opinions about the scoring.

On another note I would like to give a shout-out to the Brazilian Rhythmic Gymnastics team that after failing to qualify to London and being very sad in the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship in Montpellier came back strong, showed what they are made of and won three golds in Guadalajara. Great job girls! Perseverance is something you cannot teach, your team either has it or not.
